Covelo woman arrested for throwing rocks at children
A 23-year-old Covelo woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly throwing rocks at three young children and attacking her boyfriend, with whom she lives, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were summoned at 12:50 p.m. to a Refuse Road home for a report of child abuse and domestic violence.
They arrived to find that Round Valley tribal police had detained a “very intoxicated” Eraina Davis, who had been allegedly throwing baseball-sized rocks at the three children at the home, ages 6, 8 and 9, according to an MCSO statement.
Two of the children were hit in the legs with the rocks, causing minor, visible injury, according to the MCSO. The third child was not injured.
Davis also allegedly punched and kicked her 33-year-old boyfriend and kicked and spit on responding tribal police officers, according to the MSCO.
None of the victims wanted medical attention, the MCSO stated.
Davis was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse and domestic battery, and booked at the Mendocino County Jail under $50,000 bail.
Drugs allegedly found in Fort Bragg DUI arrest
An officer patrolling at 8:18 p.m. saw the passenger of a Honda Accord that was parked in the Glass Beach parking area with an open container of alcohol, but the vehicle drove away before the officer could make contact, according to the FBPD.
followed the vehicle north on Main Street, where he saw the vehicle swerving, and stopped it in the 1100 block and spoke to the people inside.
The passenger seen holding the alcohol was identified as Dennis L. Moffett, 39, who had four warrants out for his arrest. Police searched him and found methamphetamine, a hypodermic syringe and other paraphernalia used for smoking and injecting the drug, according to the FBPD.
Moffett was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and on suspicion of the charges on the warrants.
